Overview:

In collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, this role assists the manager in overseeing daily operations within the unit. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery during assigned shifts. This position plays a crucial role in the development and evaluation of nursing staff, providing specialized care through expert knowledge and judgment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and guidance in achieving unit objectives and enhancing the work environment by supporting the nurse manager.

2. Exhibit accountability for personal and team performance.

3. Ensure a safe environment for both staff and patients.

4. Engage in performance improvement initiatives.

5. Support efforts related to staff recruitment and retention.

6. Utilize critical thinking skills to manage patient care, including staffing plans and resource delegation.

7. Assist in human resource management tasks, including coaching and evaluating nursing personnel.

8. Address patient care and staffing needs across the Akron Children's Hospital network.

9. Foster a positive workplace culture and encourage staff engagement.

10. Act as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team.

11. Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to address the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.

12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent software is essential.

2. A valid Ohio nursing license is required.

3. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

4. Familiarity with the Department of Nursing Resuscitation Requirements and training policies is necessary.

5. Relevant nursing certification is preferred.

Education and Experience:
1. Educational Background: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN degree.

2. Certification requirements may vary by department/unit.

3. Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities is required.

4. Supervisory Experience: Previous experience as a charge nurse or in a leadership role is essential.

5. Strong leadership competencies, including communication, organizational skills, time management, problem-solving, and team support are necessary.
