POSITION SUMMARY:

The International School of Boston (ISB) is seeking a dedicated and passionate part-time Behavior Specialist for the Elementary School division to join our multicultural team. Their goal is to provide ongoing support to teachers for addressing behavioral challenges presented by students within the school, provide direct intervention to students, as needed, plan and implement behavior support plans/protocols, as needed, and respond to emergencies as required.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Student Support: Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services to students for intervention and preventative purposes across all grade levels, including 1:1 and small group support.
  • Observe identified students within the classroom and milieu setting, attend meetings, and assist in developing personalized learning plans (PLPs) and progress reports.
  • Design and implement behavior support plans (BSPs) for classrooms.
  • Develop individual behavior management programs for students in the classroom setting.
  • Teacher/Faculty/Parent Support: Consult with teachers, other faculty members, and parents on implementing behavior management and training around ABA principles as needed.
  • Train and model the implementation of BSPs for teacher teams.
  • Observe faculty implementing BSPs and provide feedback and training as needed.
  • Participate in team consultation meetings with classroom teachers and related service providers.
  • Assessments/Other: Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Classroom Needs Assessments, Home Needs Assessments, and other assessments as needed.
  • Join IEP meetings as requested by public school districts.
  • Conduct evaluations in social and behavioral functioning as part of ISB students' three-year re-evaluations as requested by public school districts.
  • Monitor and record student progress and modify plans based on collected data.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open lines of communication to support student success, with the ability to communicate across lines of difference and cultural communication styles.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Contribute to the school community by participating in duties, extracurricular activities, school events, and committees.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay up to date with educational trends and best practices, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Child Safeguarding: Ensures the safety, protection, and well-being of students by creating a safe environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive and taking proactive measures to prevent and respond to any forms of harm to students.

Education and Experience

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field

BCBA/LABA certification

Experience consulting with teachers in addressing the behavioral needs of students.

Demonstrated ability and skills to meet the Core Competencies established by ISB as outlined above

Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area(s) being taught

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage in conversational English at the B1 level

Teaching certification or license from a recognized domestic or international educational authority

3-5 years providing direct services within a school setting

Background check cleared

PREFERRED (not required, but beneficial):

Advanced degree in Education or a related field

Knowledge of a second language (mainly French)
