Key Responsibilities:

The Educational Support Specialist will collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to cultivate a learning atmosphere where every child feels appreciated and is advancing at an optimal pace. This role is essential in ensuring that each student evolves into a successful learner.

In partnership with the classroom teacher, the Educational Support Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering instruction for both small and large groups.
  • Assisting in the development of comprehensive units of study.
  • Monitoring student progress through assessment and record-keeping systems.
  • Participating in parent conferences alongside the classroom teacher.
  • Facilitating lunch and recess activities.
  • Accompanying students on educational excursions.
  • Duplicating instructional materials and operating audio-visual equipment.
  • Providing support in the computer lab.
  • Managing the classroom during the teacher's absence for meetings.
  • Performing additional tasks as requested by the classroom teacher.

It is important to note that assisting with the toileting of students may be a required duty for this role.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess an Associate's degree or 48 college credits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong behavioral management skills essential for working with children in group settings, have knowledge of the Core Knowledge Curriculum, and exhibit the ability to function effectively as part of an educational team.
