Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Supervisor to join our team at Valero Energy Corporation. As a Technical Project Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing technical support on the design, installation, and maintenance of all IT-based physical security, audio-visual, and select technical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the project management lifecycle for audio-visual, plant alarm, radio systems, IP paging systems, and digital signage services and select technical projects from conception through completion.
  • Assist with the development of strategic budgeting, project forecasting, AFE development, and DRB reviews.
  • Coordinate initiatives between the Exec Dir of Global Security Operations/Construction Management and refinery management.
  • Assist with the issuance of RFP documents and selection of qualified contractors.
  • Coordinate with various departments to understand AV and Plant Alarm system needs.
  • Supervise AV and Plant Alarm installations, providing direction, training, and support.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to team members, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of AV and Plant Alarm equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest AV and Plant Alarm technologies/trends.
  • Implement new technologies and best practices to improve service delivery.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
  • Manage relationships with external and internal vendors and contractors improving AV and Plant Alarm services.
  • Maintain detailed records of AV and Plant Alarm setups, equipment maintenance, and related activities.
  • Generate regular reports on AV and Plant Alarm service performance, including metrics on efficiency, cost savings, and impact.
  • Ensure all AV and Plant Alarm operations comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Serve as a liaison between field engineering groups and Facility & Administrative Services; ensure corporate compliance with refinery standards and processes throughout all phases of project development and construction.
  • Approve typical internal engineering and installation drawing packages; ensure compliance with regulatory, Valero, and industry standards.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 8+ years of experience in the following area(s) required:
    • Experience with AV technology to include design and planning functions.
    • 5 years of experience in a supervisory/management role.
    • Experience with plant alarm systems and interworking with Security, Safety, and Operations teams.
  • Bachelor's or higher level degree - Engineering, Design, or related field preferred.
  • Vendor management experience as it relates to governance, transition, and performance management preferred.
  • Managing applications in a structured environment supporting multiple server/client-side platforms including Windows, Linux, and SQL preferred.
  • Developing projects requiring a high degree of both mechanical and logical expertise; including control system architecture and system design preferred.
  • Experience with chemical industry construction, engineering, and design standards (API and Shell Engineering Standards), and contractor validation preferred.
  • Required Certifications:
    • CTS.
    • CTS-I.
    • CTS-D.
    • Extron-AV Associate.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Driver's License within specified timeframe required.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
Additional Information

All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). It is Valero's policy that employees must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
