Job Summary

The California Department of Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Personnel Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our payroll and benefits team, you will play a critical role in fostering a sense of belonging among our team members during onboarding and connecting them to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply and interpret bargaining unit contract language, laws, and rules from available reference manuals and other related revisions issued by the State Personnel Board (SPB), the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Controller's Office (SCO), California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), and the DHCS.
  • Work independently, multi-task, and work with various cut-off dates throughout the pay period to maintain an active roster of employees.
  • Develop and maintain good rapport, consistent and regular attendance, and effective communication skills to deal with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of payroll and benefits principles, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
