Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Personnel Specialist to join our team at the Employment Development Department. As a key member of our HR team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of duties related to personnel transactions, including interpreting and applying personnel-related laws, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately and independently interpret and apply personnel-related laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Act as liaison between employees and control agencies to ensure personnel and payroll documents are processed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain an assigned roster of full-time, part-time, and intermittent positions.
  • Utilize a high degree of independence and problem-solving ability to research personnel problems and provide alternative recommendations or solutions.
  • Keep supervisor proactively informed of progress and potential problem areas.
Working Conditions

This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, within walking distance to light rail, farmer's market, and various retailers, restaurants, and food trucks. Electric bike and scooter rentals and commuter bus access are readily available.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in personnel transactions or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
