Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing equipment recapitalization projects to support weapons infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Management: Develop project charters, plans, and budgets to ensure successful execution of infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply advanced technical knowledge and methodologies to guide successful completion of projects and organizational goals.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as primary technical contact on various tasks and projects, leading a team of specialists to direct successful project execution.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with mission support organizations, program managers, and stakeholders to ensure project execution meets approved cost, scope, and schedule requirements.

Additional Responsibilities at the SES.4 Level:

  • Systems Approach: Develop and implement a systems approach for programmatic equipment projects request and prioritization.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply subject matter expertise to develop and implement efficient processes to execute projects.
  • Portfolio Management: Assist in infrastructure portfolio management and monitoring, providing guidance to other Project Engineers.
  • Strategic Planning: Perform strategic planning for programmatic projects and develop cost estimates for programmatic equipment projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience: Significant knowledge of hardware design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning, as well as experience effectively managing projects.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Additional Qualifications at the SES.4 Level:

  • Expert Knowledge: Expert knowledge and experience to deliver infrastructure to support technical capabilities integrating both scientific equipment and facilities modernization.
  • Leadership Experience: Extensive experience in leading teams, overseeing, and delivering multiple projects on budget and schedule.
  • Communication Skills: Expert communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to present, explain, and advise senior management and/or external sponsors.
