Position Overview
This role involves multiple openings for experienced Quality Engineers within the Weapons Production Group (WPG). You will be instrumental in supporting both new initiatives and ongoing projects related to weapon system surveillance and production operations.

Department
These positions are part of the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), contributing to the Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) Program under the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Principal Directorate.

Work Environment
Depending on your specific role, this position may offer a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a blend of in-person and remote work.

Key Responsibilities
As a Quality Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Product Realization Team (PRT) members to ensure adherence to established procedures and policies.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders including designers, engineers, and management across multiple agencies.
  • Participating as a core member of PRTs, providing expertise in quality assurance, production, and configuration management.
  • Leading the review of Engineering Authorizations (EAs) and ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Training technical staff on quality processes and requirements.
  • Conducting assessments and ensuring adherence to quality standards during formal evaluations.

Advanced Responsibilities
For those at a higher level, additional responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting management in quality implementation strategies.
  • Communicating and resolving impacts from changes in federal and institutional requirements.
  • Providing advanced quality expertise to engineers and scientists on complex technical challenges.
  • Monitoring corrective actions and addressing systemic quality issues.

Qualifications
This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or an equivalent security clearance. Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in quality, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in engineering testing operations.
  • Ability to travel as required to meet programmatic objectives.

Additional Desired Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience with advanced fabrication techniques and quality program development.
  • Familiarity with nuclear weapons program components and associated technologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant software tools and engineering standards.
