About the Director of Human Resources Role:

The Director of Human Resources plays a critical role in supporting the Talent Team by leading the implementation of a human resources service model. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance and providing exceptional customer service to staff members.

This role will lead the HR team in achieving key outcomes, including the successful completion of annual activities and organizational initiatives. Additionally, the Director of HR will oversee staff data reporting and tracking for compliance, engagement, and demographic data.

The Director of Human Resources will collaborate with the Senior Director of HR and the Chief People Officer to develop and implement talent and HR strategies that support KIPP Colorado's mission to become a leader in the nonprofit space.

KIPP Colorado Public Schools is a network of six free college-preparatory public charter schools that serve over 2,600 students from ECE to 12th grade. Our staff of 350 educators and professionals are dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to a choice-filled future.

Compliance:

The Director of Human Resources will ensure that the organization, leaders, and staff are operating in compliance with ethical, legal, and policy guidelines. This includes leading on licensure and ESSA compliance requirements, maintaining a strong understanding of licensure and ESSA requirements, and supporting the human resources manager to ensure compliance with all employment requirements.

Staff Facing Human Resources Support Areas:
  • Lead on the improvement of the KIPP Colorado paid leave time off approaches
  • Assure that all KIPP Colorado staff members are informed about our PTO programs
  • Support the Senior Director of HR in conducting internal investigations and grievance processes
  • Lead on the Staff Satisfaction and Staff Retention approaches
  • Lead the assessment of the KIPP Colorado staff benefits program
Data Reporting and Tracking:

The Director of Human Resources will implement strong data systems to support reporting, risk management, and data-informed decision-making. This includes assuring HR systems and technology are accurate and functional for staff and leaders, owning staff data collection strategy and follow-through, and developing a cadence and proactively sharing and supporting data reporting.

Team Leadership:

The Director of Human Resources will lead directly and/or indirectly; staff members, strategy, and work across the KIPP Colorado organization. This includes managing and coaching team towards annual goals.

About a Successful Candidate:

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years of relevant and aligned experience in school or non-profit based human resources. They will also have at least 5 years of school-based experience and/or a strong record of helping underserved students achieve academic success.

Additionally, the candidate will have at least 2 years of non-profit or school-based compliance experience, past experience leading adults in a school environment, and an exceptional Student Experience commitment. They will also have outstanding organizational skills, high attention to detail, and outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
