Job Title: Controls Engineer

AAM is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining large-scale electronic equipment and machinery for use in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate control systems, products, components, and applications to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing and control technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Design and execute test procedures to confirm control system functionality and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
  • Ensure integrity of process and build data collection.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, process, and other engineering fields.
  • Perform periodic audits and troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage supplier development and delivery.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve manufacturing processes and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing processes and equipment interaction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel locally and internationally.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of gauging methods and ability to use gauging equipment.
  • Experience with Ethernet and serial data protocols.
  • Basic electronics and embedded system programming skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical control and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and intermediate programming methods.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc robots and CNC programming.
