At UMFS' Charterhouse School, we provide a nurturing environment for Virginia's youth with special needs, encouraging them to step beyond their comfort zones and engage with the world around them. Our mission is to guide them towards more effective and fulfilling pathways. Our accredited institution serves elementary, middle, and high school students through a comprehensive curriculum focused on both academic and social skills.

Our Student Body:

We cater to children aged 6 to 22, who face challenges such as autism, emotional and learning disabilities, as well as other developmental and intellectual impairments. Our classrooms maintain an 8:1 student-to-teacher/support staff ratio to ensure personalized attention.

Role Expectations:

The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality education to students experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Responsibilities include teaching designated subjects, managing student records, and overseeing classroom behavior. You will implement an instructional framework designed to educate students with Emotional Disturbance (ED), Learning Disabilities (LD), Intellectual Disabilities (ID), or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Qualifications Required:

We seek an Art Educator who possesses or is eligible for a Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Art. A minimum of two years of experience in teaching art is preferred. Candidates hired with a provisional teaching license must fulfill all requirements within a three-year period.
