Utilities Operations Supervisor

The City of Dover is seeking a dedicated individual to take on the role of a skilled supervisor in the management and upkeep of the wastewater collection and water distribution systems. This position involves overseeing work crews and ensuring the efficient operation of essential utilities.
Position Details:
Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $31.60 to $45.74 per hour
Status: Non-exempt
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Lead and direct the utilities crew in various tasks, often working alongside them on-site.
- Planning and Implementation: Assist in organizing and executing the work order system, including construction and maintenance operations to ensure high-quality water and sewer services.
- Training: Facilitate the training of staff in maintenance, construction, and repair duties related to water and sewer systems.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect and repair pumping stations, reservoirs, meters, and drainage systems to maintain operational integrity.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and water supply metrics.
- Excavation Preparation: Identify and mark the locations of various utility lines before excavation work begins.
- Problem Resolution: Respond promptly to complaints and resolve issues following established protocols.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various trucks and construction equipment, including performing routine maintenance and inspections.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of materials and parts necessary for the maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
- Construction Duties: Participate in hands-on labor for construction and maintenance projects, including tasks such as pavement cutting and pipe repair.
- Service Operations: Manage the servicing of water supply and sewer lift pumps.
- Safety Compliance: Identify safety hazards and report any equipment malfunctions.
- Emergency Response: Be available for emergency situations and participate in snow removal operations as needed.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with additional coursework in wastewater treatment and water distribution. A minimum of four years of relevant experience in utility operations and maintenance is required. Candidates must hold a valid NH CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsements, with CDL-A preferred. Certifications in Wastewater Collection, Grade IV, and NH Water Distribution, Grade III are necessary, along with preferred certifications in Water Treatment, Grade I and/or Wastewater Treatment, Grade I.
