Position Overview

This role is part of the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The Culinary Services Associate plays a vital role in supporting the internal catering team and operations at the West Akron Campus café. Responsibilities include assisting with ongoing Food Service initiatives, such as recipe database development, contributing to the Around the World project, and facilitating Board of Directors luncheons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplifying FirstEnergy's core values and behaviors through daily tasks and project contributions.
  • Fostering a safe and respectful work environment for all employees.
  • Applying food service principles, including sanitation, procurement, product rotation, customer service, knife skills, and hygiene.
  • Preparing and organizing the salad bar station, including food preparation, inventory management, and cleanliness.
  • Coordinating catering services for internal events and take-out orders, including cold food preparation, packing, delivery, and breakdown.
  • Exhibiting a sense of urgency in achieving goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Managing daily tasks and medium-scale projects concurrently.
  • Providing alternatives and recommendations for customers, developing project deliverables, and enhancing work processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in catering, food service preparation, or banquets.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is preferred.
  • Demonstrated growth in research techniques, including recipe development and industry trends.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Physically capable of performing tasks that involve bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Manager-level ServSafe Certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with strong time management abilities.
  • Consistently delivering quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
