Technical Support Engineering Intern

Position Overview

This internship is under the supervision of the Technical Support Team Lead. As an intern, you will gain practical experience through a variety of projects. Daily tasks will enhance your knowledge and skills while supporting ABB's operations. The role is primarily onsite.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Delivering technical assistance via phone and email for common issues related to Low Voltage (LV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This includes aiding customers and field technicians with commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty assessments.
• Evaluating problems and initiating effective solutions. Collaborate with relevant teams to efficiently achieve objectives and ensure customer satisfaction. Actively contribute feedback to the Quality department regarding product quality concerns.
• Managing product warranty processes while ensuring customer satisfaction and adhering to cost control measures. Authorizing labor for independent service representatives known as Drives Authorized Service Contractors (DASCs) to conduct troubleshooting and repairs at customer locations across North America. Implementing policies to support Drives that are out of warranty.
• Keeping communication open with other departments to stay updated on product releases and modifications. Maintaining technical expertise in troubleshooting and repair of Drives.
• Documenting each reportable case in the Salesforce Case Management System, ensuring detailed notes for each interaction.
• Adhering to all safety and workplace regulations while maintaining departmental cleanliness standards.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and devise strategic solutions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality.
  • Collaborative mindset to share ideas, information, and project updates with team members.
