Position Overview
The Brand Strategy Lead plays a crucial role in crafting and implementing a dynamic marketing approach that distinguishes TechTown Detroit from its competitors. This position is essential for enhancing brand visibility and fostering a strong connection with our audience, ultimately driving the organization towards achieving its objectives. The Brand Strategy Lead will manage all aspects related to brand identity and ensure that all communication materials align with our brand standards.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of TechTown's overarching goals, including programmatic and marketing-specific objectives. The ideal candidate will proactively contribute innovative strategies to effectively engage target audiences through compelling brand narratives. A successful candidate will appreciate the diverse range of initiatives offered by TechTown and its partnership with Wayne State University's Division of Economic Development.
Key Responsibilities
Branding and Creative Leadership
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to enhance visibility for various programs and initiatives.
- Present creative solutions and strategies that align with organizational goals and drive successful outcomes.
- Lead the development of all creative elements, including social media content, video production, photography direction, and event promotional materials.
- Ensure that all marketing and communication assets are consistent with the organization's brand identity.
- Stay updated on digital and social media trends to inform creative strategies.
- Oversee creative direction, graphic design, and user-centered design processes.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Manage relationships with external vendors for marketing and creative projects.
- Create marketing materials for various programs and services as needed.
Strategic Insights
- Conduct market research and provide reports on competitors within the small business and innovation sectors.
- Utilize brand expertise to amplify TechTown's voice within its operational ecosystems.
- Identify effective channels to reach diverse target audiences through both traditional and innovative platforms.
- Collaborate with program staff to develop marketing strategies that position TechTown favorably against competitors.
Required Skills and Tools
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere).
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive).
- Knowledge of AI tools and resources for marketing purposes.
- Basic understanding of WordPress and project management tools.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in guiding marketing and communications efforts, including creative direction and digital marketing.
- A strong commitment to equity, inclusivity, and impactful work.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in brand management or strategy within an editorial or agency context.
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and the entrepreneurial landscape in Detroit is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position starts at $65,000, with adjustments based on qualifications and experience. TechTown offers comprehensive health and dental benefits, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, and generous paid time off, including mental health days and professional development stipends.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings required for collaboration.
