Job Overview:

The State of Oregon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Fiscal Transparency. This critical role will play a pivotal part in leading and implementing strategies to enhance fiscal transparency within the organization and to external partners and the general public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of initiatives to provide comprehensive access to financial data and insights from Oregon school districts and Education Service Districts.
  • Lead a team responsible for overseeing data collection related to Average Daily Membership Weighted (ADMw), interfacing with School District and Education Service Districts' Superintendents and budget managers, and reviewing audited financials from School District Education Service Districts.
  • Collaborate closely with interagency offices on efforts such as dashboarding for internal and external use and continued coordination with the Governor's and Directors' Offices.
  • Drive the organization's commitment to transparency and accountability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, business intelligence, or a related field, and four years' experience in financial reporting or transparency-related efforts.
  • OR seven years' experience in leadership positions overseeing financial reporting or transparency-related efforts.

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse partners.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of work.
  • Experience working in a government agency or educational institution is desirable but not required.
