Job Title: Legislative Director

The Office of the Oregon Senate President is seeking a highly skilled Legislative Director to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in the coordination and processing of legislation through the chamber, as well as advising the Senate President and staff on key public policy issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with committee chairs to support effective committee consideration of proposed legislation
  • Coordinate and facilitate policy workgroups to develop and enact meaningful public policy solutions
  • Provide expert advice on legislative processes, Oregon state laws, and political contexts
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, both orally and in writing
  • Manage multiple issues in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of legislative processes, Oregon state laws, and political contexts
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and negotiate with diverse groups of people
