Embedded Systems Control Specialist

Solugenix Corporation is seeking a driven and skilled Embedded Systems Control Specialist to become part of our esteemed client’s team. In this capacity, the Embedded Systems Control Specialist will play a pivotal role in the design and creation of firmware solutions tailored for embedded systems, execute PLC programming tasks, and develop HMI to enhance user interaction, ensuring optimal performance and dependability.

The Embedded Systems Control Specialist will collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to innovate cutting-edge technology, engage in design evaluations, review and endorse testing and validation protocols and reports, and ensure all documentation, PLC programs, and PCB Gerber files are seamlessly integrated into the internal ERP/MRP system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and sustain embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors utilized in our products.
  • Design and execute control logic using PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Create Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for our industrial automation systems.
  • Integrate a diverse array of industrial automation solutions, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Comprehend existing code and produce necessary design documentation, code modifications, testing procedures, and validate functionality as implemented.
  • Oversee the development and documentation related to the project's software systems, including control system electronics hardware, electro-mechanical interfaces, compliance with machine specifications, and adherence to relevant standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report issues in the field for control systems, such as sensors, HMI, servo drives, and PLCs.
  • Generate operation manuals and other essential documentation to assist end-users and maintenance teams.
  • Utilize design software tools like SolidWorks Electrical, E-Plan, and AutoCAD for design, concept, and layout purposes.
  • Provide support during prototype assemblies and contribute to product launches into production.
  • Assist with the design, development, testing, and reporting for new product development initiatives.
  • Engage with vendors to innovate state-of-the-art technology, participate in design evaluations, review and endorse testing and validation protocols and reports, and ensure all documentation, PLC programs, and PCB Gerber files are integrated into the internal ERP system.
  • Participate in wireless communication and the integration of IoT wireless networking (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, mesh networks).
  • Lead firmware design and development projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, along with four or more years of experience in control system implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages and familiarity with various PLC platforms.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and design.
  • Experience with design software tools such as SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team, showcasing strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations, such as UL, IEC 61131, is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines and address urgent issues.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, innovative environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and German is a plus.
  • Manage projects to achieve timely results, establishing work priorities and schedules for completing assignments with minimal supervision and general guidance.
Salary Range for CA, CO, IL, NJ, NY, WA, and DC: $130,000-$150,000 DOE. The starting rate of pay offered may vary depending on factors including but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
