Position Summary

The Risk Adjustment Coder plays a critical role in conducting comprehensive reviews of ambulatory medical records. This position ensures that clinical documentation accurately reflects the patient's health status, illness severity, and overall complexity. The Coder is tasked with assessing the precision and consistency of coded clinical data, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations regarding coding, auditing, and clinical documentation practices across various risk adjustment frameworks. Additionally, this role may involve contributing to the development and dissemination of provider communications and related initiatives focused on clinical documentation improvement.

Essential Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma is mandatory.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in risk adjustment coding and/or auditing is essential.
3. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and medical records (EMR), with the ability to navigate multiple systems.
4. Candidates must possess one of the following certifications: Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS, CCS-P). Those without CRC certification must achieve it within their first year of employment.
5. Previous experience with Medicare Managed Care (Medicare Advantage) is preferred.
