Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled System Control Engineer to enhance our team. This role involves contributing to the design and development of firmware solutions for embedded systems, implementing PLC programming solutions, and creating Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) to improve user experience while ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The System Control Engineer will collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to innovate cutting-edge technology, participate in design reviews, and oversee the approval of testing and validation protocols. Additionally, the engineer will manage the transfer of all documentation, PLC programs, and PCB Gerber files to our internal ERP/MRP system.

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors utilized in our products.
  • Design and implement control logic using various PLC programming languages.
  • Create Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for our automation systems.
  • Integrate diverse industrial automation solutions, including PLCs, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and HMIs.
  • Analyze existing code and generate necessary design documentation, code modifications, testing procedures, and validate functionality.
  • Oversee the development and documentation of software systems related to control systems, ensuring compliance with machine specifications and applicable standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in the field related to control systems, including sensors, HMIs, servo drives, and PLCs.
  • Produce operation manuals and relevant documentation to assist end-users and maintenance teams.
  • Utilize design software tools for conceptualization and layout purposes.
  • Support prototype builds and contribute to product launches.
  • Engage in the design, development, testing, and reporting for new product initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop innovative technology and manage documentation transfers to the internal ERP system.
  • Participate in wireless communication projects, including IoT wireless networking.
  • Lead firmware design and development initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of four years of experience in control system implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing embedded firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages and familiarity with various PLC platforms.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with design software tools.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, showcasing strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations is advantageous.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and German is a plus.
  • Project management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
