KBR is in search of a Mechanical Systems Specialist to deliver technical expertise in the design, mechanical assembly, evaluation, installation, and documentation of advanced satellite laser ranging systems. The ideal candidate may be responsible for the following:

  • Interpreting technical drawings, wiring schematics, and engineering guidelines for the assembly of equipment and hardware.
  • Executing the assembly of printed circuit boards, custom cable production, and chassis design and construction.
  • Assisting in the fabrication, assembly, integration, and evaluation of satellite laser ranging hardware and subsystems.
  • Collaborating with fellow technicians and engineers in assembly, evaluation, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Conducting rework and repairs on products that do not meet performance standards.
  • Generating and submitting purchase requests for necessary project materials and performing inspections on received items.
  • Maintaining inventory lists for subsystems under supervision.
  • Traveling to various sites to support installation and troubleshooting efforts.
  • With limited oversight, installing, constructing, testing, diagnosing, repairing, and modifying components, parts, equipment, and systems for the satellite laser ranging program.

Essential Skills and Training:

  • Exceptional manual dexterity, with the capability to manage and manipulate small components during critical assembly tasks.
  • A strong background in system evaluation and troubleshooting is essential.
  • Ability to identify necessary components or materials for specific tasks and create a comprehensive parts list.
  • The successful candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively in a team setting, be self-motivated, operate independently with minimal guidance, and meet stringent technical and scheduling requirements.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications and tools is required.

Required Education and Experience:

A high school diploma coupled with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, or Training:

  • Educational background or training in mechanical and electrical systems and engineering is advantageous for this role.
  • Experience in fieldwork, particularly in the installation of components, is beneficial.
  • Experience in a workshop environment, fabricating mechanical components using standard equipment, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with working at heights or on ladders is desirable.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Travel Requirements: This role will necessitate both domestic and international travel for the preparation and installation of satellite laser ranging systems.
