Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Mechanical Field Service Engineer to contribute to our efforts in supporting the Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract. This role is pivotal in ensuring the functionality of electronic, mechanical, and radio frequency systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a prime contractor for the Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton plays a crucial role in the operation, maintenance, and systems engineering of NASA's global satellite communication networks. In this capacity, you will be involved in critical missions related to lunar exploration, earth and space science initiatives, and vehicle launches. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining reliable NASA space-ground communications that meet mission objectives.

Your responsibilities will encompass:
  • Utilizing extensive technical expertise to address complex challenges by interpreting manufacturer documentation and manuals.
  • Conducting troubleshooting activities, including component replacement, circuit wiring, and simple electronic equipment repairs, while employing standard instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Delivering hardware maintenance services, which may involve the installation, modification, and reinstallation of existing equipment, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure original hardware configuration functionality.
  • Executing mechanical preventative maintenance tasks on antenna systems, including lubrication of gears, gearbox oil changes, and corrosion control.
  • Understanding and adhering to operational and maintenance procedures without deviation.
  • Performing duties in compliance with all systems engineering and configuration management policies and procedures.
  • Composing formal documentation such as reports, procedures, and failure analyses.
  • Occasionally assisting with logistics related to material transfers.
  • Collaborating closely with technical leads, operators, and IT security personnel.
  • Being available on-call to support laboratory operations during critical launch and landing events.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • BS/BA degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or an AA/AS degree with at least 4 years of experience; or equivalent technical experience without a degree, including 2+ years of technical training.
  • A minimum of 2 years of engineering and/or electronics training; RF engineering experience is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in following operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, requiring US citizenship and proof of citizenship.
Desired Experience:
  • Proficiency in using test instruments for evaluating electrical components, including digital multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with Maximo for inventory management, maintenance, and calibration tasks.
  • Experience in integrating and configuring timing equipment for high-precision control systems and data measurement.
  • Background in installing and maintaining mechanical equipment, including gearboxes and motors.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
