Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our NASA Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract.

As prime contractor on the NASA Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution contract (SENSE), you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for systems engineering, design, development, integration, test, and maintenance of a platform that enables any mission to be supported by any service provider. The team is also responsible for delivering capabilities into Operations. This platform allows NASA to provide communications and navigation services in the Near Space Region to NASA missions and other customers.

In this role, you will focus on supporting NASA's Search and Rescue Lab (SARLab). Your work will encompass operations, maintenance, and sustainment of SARLab antenna systems and subsystems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing robust configuration processes.
  • Creating formal documents such as reports, procedures, and failure analyses.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive documentation system for processes and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining a state-of-health dashboard detailing the active status of each system and corresponding subsystem.
  • Utilizing SolidWorks for modeling and 3-D printing.
  • Applying NASA standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the engineering and development lifecycle.
  • Conducting technical trade studies as required.
  • Collaborating closely with SARLab personnel, including the technical lead, operators, and IT security.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a systems engineer, developing operations concepts, requirements, system specifications, system interface documents, and supporting technical reviews.
  • Knowledge of NASA or Department of Defense system engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This requires U.S. citizenship and proof of citizenship.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Prior experience working with space communication systems or NASA projects.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw) and system modeling languages (e.g., SysML, UML).
  • Experience using SolidWorks 3-D modeling tool.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while working on complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a team environment.
