Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Mechanical Field Service Engineer to contribute to our initiatives in Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution. This role involves working with intricate electronic and mechanical systems, as well as radio frequency technologies.

As the primary contractor for the Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton plays a crucial role in the management, upkeep, and systems engineering of NASA's global satellite communication networks. This position supports NASA's ambitious missions, including lunar exploration and various earth and space science projects.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with supporting NASA's Search and Rescue Lab (SARLab), focusing on the operations and maintenance of antenna systems and their subsystems. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Utilizing extensive technical expertise to address complex challenges by interpreting technical manuals and related documents.
  • Conducting troubleshooting activities, which may involve replacing components, repairing electronic devices, and performing tests with standard instruments such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Providing maintenance services, including installation, modification, and preventive measures to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Executing mechanical maintenance tasks on antenna systems, such as lubrication and corrosion control.
  • Following established operational and maintenance protocols meticulously.
  • Documenting processes through formal reports and analyses.
  • Collaborating closely with SARLab personnel, including technical leads and operators.
  • Being available for on-call support during critical operations.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience; or equivalent technical experience.
  • At least 2 years of training in engineering or electronics, with a preference for RF engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
Desired Experience:
  • Proficiency in using test instruments for electrical component evaluation.
  • Experience with inventory and maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of integrating timing equipment for precision control systems.
  • Experience in the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
