Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Resources Manager to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing cultural, educational, recreational, community, and social service programs. You will also be responsible for maintaining and developing City recreational and community service facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate cultural, educational, recreational, community, and social service programs.
  • Coordinate department functions and programs with the activities of other City departments.
  • Select, train, and have responsibility for the discipline of personnel.
  • Develop and implement policies and regulations for the use of the Community Center and other department and City facilities.
  • Serve in a liaison capacity with a wide variety of community groups and organizations.
  • Oversee the operation of a professional theater complex.
  • Prepare cost analyses of program and facility operations.
  • Prepare and administer grants.
  • Oversee special event permits and the special event calendar.
  • Ensure proper liability coverage for program operations.
  • Develop and submit recommendations for fees for recreation programs.
  • Develop advertising and marketing materials for department programs and facilities.
  • Formulate rules, policies, and procedures for the operation of the Department.
  • Monitor, write, and negotiate contracts and leases.
  • Oversee and coordinate facility management and development of all City recreation buildings and facilities.
  • Prepare recommendations for necessary repair, capital improvement, and capital outlay.
  • Oversee the processing of special event permits.
  • Provide advice and consultation to the City Manager and City Council on department programs and facility use problems and policies.
  • Make recommendations for the purchase of equipment and supplies.
  • Develop budget requests and controls expenditures.
  • Meet with community groups and organizations regarding department programs, problems, and policies.
  • Cultivate sound community relations.
  • Serve as liaison with other government agencies.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with a degree in Recreation Administration, Public or Business Administration, Theater Arts Management, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have five years of increasingly responsible professional recreational, community service, and park management experience, including at least four years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
