Job Summary

The University of Minnesota's College of Liberal Arts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial operations. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong understanding of financial management, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the college's academic goals and priorities.
  • Oversee the college's budget planning and fiscal administration, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
  • Lead the financial services team, providing guidance and support to department chairs and directors on budget management and planning.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability.
  • Provide financial guidance and advice to the dean and other collegiate leaders on financial matters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with University-wide departments and offices to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with financial trends and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve financial performance and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in financial management, including leadership roles in budget planning and fiscal administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, providing guidance and support to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with financial systems and software, including budgeting and financial reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as business administration or public administration.
  • Experience working in higher education, with a strong understanding of academic budgeting and financial management.
  • Knowledge of financial management software and systems, including budgeting and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience leading a team, with a strong track record of success in financial management and leadership.
