Federal Government Relations Specialist

This exciting role as a Federal Government Relations Specialist at Citibank in Washington, D.C. is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact on the company's success.
The successful candidate will be responsible for representing Citi before Congress and other federal government offices, primarily managing Senate Republican relationships. This involves identifying priority issues, creating an advocacy strategy around identified issues, and implementing the strategy, including engaging with external stakeholders such as trade associations and outside consultants.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on financial services and/or foreign policy issues and with Republican offices, focusing on the Senate Banking Committee and Senate Republican Leadership. A strong background in government relations, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Congressional offices and policymakers.
- Advocate on Key Issues: Advocate on financial services and other policy issues important to Citi.
- Schedule Meetings and Prepare Materials: Schedule meetings and prepare talking points and briefing materials for senior business leaders.
- Identify and Communicate Policy Changes: Identify and communicate federal policy changes and their implications to senior management, business heads, and global functions.
- Build Internal Consensus: Build internal consensus on policy changes that affect the bank.
- Support the Citi Political Action Committee: Build internal support for the Citi Political Action Committee (PAC).
- Coordinate with State & Local Teams: Coordinate with State & Local and International government relations teams on policy issues and advocacy, as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 15 Years of Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in government relations either from government or with a major corporation, trade association, or other organization.
- Previous Financial Services Policy Experience: Previous financial services policy experience.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A competitive salary range for this position is $170,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, Citi offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental & vision coverage, 401(k), life, accident, and disability insurance, and wellness programs.
