Job Summary

Hamilton Mayer is seeking a highly skilled Superintendent to oversee heavy civil transportation projects in Washington DC. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of labor regulations, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a broad understanding of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and manage all activities related to heavy civil transportation projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a team of craft and non-craft employees, providing guidance, training, and support, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Construction Documentation and Drawings: Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate project execution, and collaborate with project engineers and designers to resolve design conflicts and develop construction solutions.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with labor regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices, and conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards and risks.
  • Communication and Problem-solving: Facilitate effective communication between project team members, subcontractors, and clients, and collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to address and resolve project-related issues.
  • Time Management and Organization: Develop and manage detailed construction schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones, and coordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and subcontractor activities to optimize project efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction or Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of labor regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.
  • Broad understanding of the construction industry, including construction methods, equipment, and materials.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
