Your Role

The Utilities Electrical Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the electrical dependability and technical assurance for our Utilities Production Areas.
  • Collaborate with the Production Team to guarantee safe and efficient unit operations. Serve as the primary technical resource for Electrical Inspectors, aiding in problem resolution and solution development. Coordinate with various technical groups, project teams, and Operations.
  • Examine design packages and schematics to ensure adherence to applicable standards and verify the accuracy of all specifications.
  • Engage in design and construction activities such as HAZOPS, SHA, and PSSR.
  • Propose equipment upgrades or replacements and initiate Project Initiation Forms (PIFs) to enhance the reliability of electrical systems.
  • Conduct assessments to support risk-based inspection initiatives.
  • Ensure the electrical system model is updated to reflect new electrical supply and equipment connections.
  • Participate in Causal Investigations to analyze equipment failures using established Work Processes.
  • Contribute to the development of a capital 5-year plan focusing on prioritized asset integrity risks.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate site electrical one-line diagrams in ASSAI.
  • Ensure electrical Non-Routine Maintenance (NRM) programs are integrated into Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Managed Equipment Care (MEC) plans.
  • Support the mentorship of junior Electrical Engineers, fostering a challenging technical learning environment.
  • Review Management of Change (MOC) documents for junior Electrical Engineers as necessary.
  • Stay proficient in applying new technologies related to Electrical condition monitoring and performance assessment, such as Industrial Power Distribution, Partial Discharge testing, System condition monitoring, and Infrared Temperature surveys. Analyze generated data to determine appropriate corrective actions and share insights with fellow Electrical Engineers for training purposes.
  • Provide technical guidance for the design, selection, modification, and re-rating of electrical equipment in line with industry and company standards.
  • Ensure technical assurance for temporary repairs.
  • Offer technical support for turnaround planning and execution related to electrical equipment.
  • Support the MOC process to ensure all changes account for electrical technical specifications.
  • Manage electrical reliability challenges through the Fit4 work process.
  • Assist in the execution of turnarounds and pitstops.
  • Align on electrical bad actor threats and mitigation strategies through effective standard designs.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews for all electrical switching procedures associated with Sub Turnaround (T/As).
  • Deliver standardized base substation Turnaround (T/A) scopes.
  • Provide electrical expertise to fellow Electrical Engineers to ensure the safety and reliability of the site electrical system.
  • Oversee the quality of low complexity capital project scope identification and assessment.
  • Act as the customer/approver for all electrical small capital projects.
  • Utilize Electrical Engineering principles and applications, including:
    • Electrical Safety
    • Hazardous Areas and Ex Equipment
    • Electrical System Design/Modification
    • Electrical System Studies
    • Electrical System Protection and Control
    • Electrical Standards
    • Electrical Equipment Selection
    • Electrical Drawings
    • Electrical Construction/Maintenance
    • Electrical Maintenance
  • Demonstrate proficiency in MEC Work Processes.
  • Identify long-term electrical reliability challenges.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead with a focus on fostering positive behaviors.
  • Develop, integrate, plan, execute, and drive electrical strategies and tactics.
  • Build open and honest relationships with craft, salary, and contractor workforce.
  • Maintain an open-minded learning orientation.
  • Effectively diagnose and present complex topics in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Exhibit integrity and respect for all.
Qualifications
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with medium voltage systems is advantageous.
The compensation range for this position is competitive and based on various factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
