Patient Access Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at UC Davis Health System. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and financial clearance process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Registration: Accurately and efficiently register patients for services, ensuring all necessary information is collected and documented.
- Financial Counseling: Provide financial counseling to patients, explaining their financial responsibilities and options for payment.
- Education and Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and policies, attending training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Communication and Networking: Collaborate with healthcare teams, patients, and families to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Accountability: Maintain accurate and detailed records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
- Reception: Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient access or financial counseling.
- Working knowledge of eligibility, authorization, and utilization review requirements for Federal, State, and County sponsored programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including EMR, MS Office, and Citrix.
- Medical Terminology Certification or equivalent work experience.
- Prior patient access experience in a hospital setting.
- Prior financial counseling experience.
This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting and bending. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent interruptions and deadlines.
