Patient Access Representative

About the Role
Sentara is seeking a skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing a positive and welcoming experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan important documents, such as insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs, and verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents, adhering to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
- Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, and perform transactions securely
- Provide supervision and patient information updates to families in waiting rooms
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Customer Service and Data Entry experience
- Active Listening, Critical Thinking, Persuasion, Reading Comprehension, Service Orientation, Social Perceptiveness, Speaking, and Time Management skills
