Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Communications and Technical Editing Specialist to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Research and Development Directorate. The individual in this role will be responsible for creating communications and marketing materials, as well as providing technical editing and writing assistance. This position necessitates the ability to engage with high-ranking military, government, intelligence, and corporate personnel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit experience as an author and/or editor for official documents and written packages (memos, papers, strategies, etc.) intended for executive approval and signature.
  • Act as a focal point for the Research and Development Directorate regarding written media, communication services, and products, as well as web presence.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing compliance with a style guide for all branding and messaging, including leading revisions and updates to the Directorate's style guide.
  • Develop and revise standard operating procedures for editorial and communications tasks.
  • Be adaptable and willing to support additional activities requiring the aforementioned skills, such as preparing newsletters and developing workshop and training materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of an active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of pertinent experience, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility and readiness to assist in new areas.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.

Desired Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED):

  • Familiarity with the role of the R&D Directorate within the DoD acquisition lifecycle framework and the technology transition process.
  • Understanding of military operations in CBRN environments.
  • Experience with task management systems such as CATMS.
