ZOLA is committed to providing distributed energy solutions that facilitate electrification at the community level.

To further our mission, we are seeking a proactive Senior Electrical Engineer to engage in the advancement of our next-generation systems while supporting our existing product offerings. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electrical system design, prototype development, and participation in engineering validation testing (EVT) and design validation testing (DVT). This role involves assisting in the transition of designs to high-volume manufacturers in Asia and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate electrical designs. A strong passion for renewable energy, particularly in solar generation, battery storage, and power conversion, is essential.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Engage in the design and development of both digital and analog electronics for controlling high-power electronic systems.
  • Conduct product-level electrical design, including component selection, circuit design, subsystem design, and schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium.
  • Oversee prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware issue tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization.
  • Collaborate with product management to translate product requirements into engineering specifications.
  • Create electrical design specifications for subsystems and manage end-to-end product introduction processes.
  • Develop and implement hardware and system test plans, conducting tests for pre-compliance, environmental conditions, and reliability.
  • Work alongside mechanical engineers to enhance system-level electro-mechanical designs, including thermal management.
  • Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs), Design for Quality (DFQ), and Design for Reliability (DFR), assisting in defining process objectives.
  • Prior experience in supporting factories to source and qualify production line test fixtures, collaborating directly with contract manufacturers in Asia and component suppliers to ensure quality outputs.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, with relevant industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, focusing on digital and analog electronics and power electronic systems.
  • Previous experience with AC/DC power conversion, motor controllers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), solar and battery inverters, along with a solid understanding of embedded controllers for power and digital control theory.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Experience in developing digital and analog interfaces for PC-based testing systems, particularly using LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python, along with signal conditioning and conversion, discrete semiconductor design, and mixed-signal design.
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies, including Cellular, WiFi, or Bluetooth.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of international safety and EMC regulations, such as UL, ISO, IEC, FCC, and NEC related to product safety.
