OPPORTUNITY

ZOLA Electric is seeking a proactive Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation energy systems and support our existing product offerings. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electrical system design, prototype development, and testing throughout the engineering process. You will facilitate the transition of designs to high-volume manufacturers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to refine electrical designs. A strong enthusiasm for renewable energy technologies, including solar power, battery storage, and power conversion, is essential.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Engage in the design and development of both digital and analog electronics for high-power systems.
  • Conduct product-level electrical design, including component selection, circuit design, subsystem design, and schematic capture using Altium.
  • Oversee prototype bring-up, debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization.
  • Collaborate with product management to translate product requirements into detailed engineering specifications.
  • Create electrical design specifications for subsystems and manage end-to-end product introduction activities.
  • Develop and implement hardware and system test plans, conducting tests for pre-compliance, environmental, and reliability assessments.
  • Work alongside mechanical engineers to enhance system-level electro-mechanical designs, focusing on thermal management.
  • Participate in DFMEAs, Design for Quality (DFQ), and Design for Reliability (DFR), assisting in the definition of process objectives.
  • Support factories in sourcing and qualifying production line test fixtures, collaborating directly with Contract Manufacturers and component suppliers to ensure quality outcomes.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, accompanied by relevant industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, focusing on digital and analog electronics as well as power electronic systems.
  • Prior experience with AC/DC power conversion, motor controllers, UPS systems, solar and battery inverters, along with a solid understanding of embedded controllers for power and digital control theory.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Experience in developing digital and analog interfaces for PC-based test systems, particularly using Labview, Matlab, or Python, as well as signal conditioning and conversion.
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Cellular, WiFi, or Bluetooth.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques.
  • Understanding of international safety and EMC regulations, including UL, ISO, IEC, FCC, and NEC, related to product safety.
  • A strong desire to contribute to a startup or high-growth environment characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit and a results-oriented culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Capability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
