OPPORTUNITY
ZOLA Electric is seeking a proactive Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to the advancement of our next-generation systems while supporting our existing product lineup. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electrical system design, prototype development, and testing during the engineering validation and design validation phases. This role involves facilitating the transition of designs to high-volume manufacturers in Asia and collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate electrical designs. A strong enthusiasm for renewable energy technologies, including solar power and battery storage, is essential.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Engage in the design and development of both digital and analog electronics for high-power systems.
- Conduct product-level electrical design, including component selection, circuit design, subsystem design, and schematic capture using Altium.
- Oversee prototype development, debugging, hardware issue tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization.
- Collaborate with product management to translate product requirements into engineering specifications.
- Create electrical design specifications for subsystems and manage product introduction processes.
- Develop and implement hardware and system testing plans, ensuring compliance with environmental and reliability standards.
- Work alongside mechanical engineers to enhance system-level electro-mechanical designs, focusing on thermal management.
- Participate in design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA), quality design (DFQ), and reliability design (DFR) processes.
- Provide support to factories in sourcing and qualifying production line test fixtures, working directly with contract manufacturers and component suppliers to ensure quality outcomes.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with relevant industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, focusing on digital, analog, and power electronic systems.
- Prior experience with AC/DC power conversion, motor controllers, UPS systems, solar inverters, and a solid understanding of embedded control systems.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience in developing digital and analog interfaces for PC-based testing systems, particularly using LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python.
- Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Cellular, WiFi, or Bluetooth.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles and mitigation strategies.
- Understanding of international safety and EMC regulations, including UL, ISO, IEC, FCC, and NEC.
- A strong desire to thrive in a startup or high-growth environment with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
