Position Overview

The Chart Correction Analyst plays a crucial role in upholding the accuracy of electronic health records by conducting thorough investigations into questionable data entries and making necessary corrections. This position is essential for identifying issues, assessing them, resolving them, and providing technical support to ensure compliance with Shepherd Center policies, Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze scenarios related to chart corrections and execute hands-on technical adjustments as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Act as a resource within the organization for issues related to chart corrections, identity verification, and instructional guidance.
  • Facilitate the correction of clinical information across all inpatient and outpatient information systems.
  • Coordinate with various parties and interdisciplinary departments involved in each case, ensuring timely and accurate corrections are made.
  • Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses of medical records for discharged patients.
  • Review electronic health records for missing documents, incomplete information, and missing signatures to guarantee completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist physicians in addressing their documentation deficiencies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • RHIT certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Health Information Management (HIM) or healthcare setting is required.
  • Experience with Medical Records and/or scanning in OnBase is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Epic systems is preferred.
  • At least six months of experience in analysis is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • The role primarily involves seated work but may occasionally require brief walking or standing. Lifting or carrying items up to 15 pounds may be necessary.
