Trinity Industries, Inc. is on the lookout for a skilled IoT Solutions Architect to join our innovative team.

This position is designed to offer technical insight, strategic direction, and support throughout the sales and customer integration phases. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with our Account Executives to grasp customer requirements, outline the most suitable solutions to address their specific needs, and effectively communicate the benefits of the proposed solutions through demonstrations and discussions. This role is crucial in helping Trinity stay at the forefront of IoT technology and will involve working with application engineering, GPS and sensor hardware manufacturers, as well as technical experts and various teams to clarify our technical specifications and qualifications during the evaluation of our integrated solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on IoT services and solutions:

• Prepare and present technical briefings to both internal teams and prospective clients.

• Provide technical and engineering insights regarding products, services, or equipment to facilitate successful implementation and usage.

• Compile performance reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing IoT performance metrics and engineering trends, while also leading testing initiatives for new devices.

• Assess infrastructure designs for thoroughness and compatibility with partner solutions and third-party vendors.

• Monitor outstanding issues with vendors and partners, leading projects to resolve them effectively.

• Collaborate with suppliers, sales, engineering, and device management teams to evaluate new IoT solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Testing plans will include ideal installation locations, comparative analyses with existing solutions, battery life assessments, alerts/geofencing, data accuracy/latency, and performance evaluations.

• Stay updated on industry trends by reviewing resources and attending relevant conferences to gather insights on customer and industry IoT needs.

• Engage with clients and engineers to evaluate equipment requirements and future system needs, working with product and engineering teams to align these with development roadmaps.

• Partner with application product teams to maintain effective hardware and software solutions, including vendor recommendations and issue management.

• Develop and deliver installation materials and training for both internal and external projects.

  • Enhance pre-sales and sales effectiveness through close collaboration with the sales team and clients:

• Work alongside sales teams to comprehend customer needs, recommend optimal solutions (hardware and software), and draft statements of work for proposed solutions when necessary.

• Offer configuration advice and implementation support for new deployments, consulting with customer technical teams to clarify solution specifications.

• Drive technical responses to RFIs and RFPs in collaboration with our team of experts.

• Contribute to the effectiveness of sales engineering by identifying immediate and long-term challenges, proposing solutions, and executing directives.

• Respond promptly and appropriately to client inquiries and follow-ups.

  • Facilitate customer onboarding to ensure successful implementation, contributing to customer satisfaction by consulting on onboarding requirements to meet sold solutions.

Each responsibility will be executed with genuine service, meticulous attention to detail, a sense of urgency, responsiveness, and a commitment to excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, or a combination of 7 years of work/education experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or related IoT Infrastructure roles.
  • 2+ years in enterprise platform product management with a focus on analytics and APIs.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and iterating on SaaS B2B products.
  • Experience with structured client interviews and product discovery processes.
  • Hands-on experience delivering business results with a proactive approach.
  • Domain knowledge in transportation and supply chain industries.
  • Experience in Industrial IoT.
  • Familiarity with B2B products and collaboration with B2B sales teams.
  • Ability to comprehend customer technical requirements while engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capable of building business cases and driving data-informed roadmap decisions.
  • Strong technical acumen, establishing credibility with engineering teams.
  • Experience working with global, cross-functional teams to ensure strategic success.
  • Familiarity with API design.
  • Experience with agile product development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of fundamental networking concepts and protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to various audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools.
  • Experience with CRM software.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
