ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Facilities Maintenance Manager will orchestrate and oversee the maintenance team to ensure optimal equipment functionality and meet production targets.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role entails supervising the maintenance staff and coordinating with external contractors as necessary to guarantee timely and quality job completion.

This position operates Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4:00 pm, averaging 45 hours per week, with occasional weekend work as needed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage urgent maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Foster the development of team members and motivate staff to create a skilled and dependable workforce. Provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel for prompt issue resolution.
  • Execute specific responsibilities through the following:
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to communicate upcoming jobs and provide insights on inventory adjustments for maintenance supplies.
  • Work alongside the Maintenance Department to establish work schedules, equipment usage plans, prioritize mechanical expenses, and develop procedures to align with overall plant objectives.
  • Prepare material and labor estimates to formulate project cost assessments and plant budgets.
  • Monitor material acquisition and usage to achieve productivity and budgetary goals.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of time, work orders, materials, equipment, and other mechanical shop documentation.
  • Assess employee skills and safety practices to determine appropriate training needs for job performance.
  • Plan staff schedules, including work assignments and overtime as necessary to address maintenance demands.
  • Engage in plant project implementation, contributing to the design and execution of mechanical project components to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion.
  • Ensure adherence to plant conduct rules, policies, and health & safety protocols during maintenance activities to reduce injury risks and downtime.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support across all shifts by participating in the on-call program, evaluating maintenance incidents after hours, and supervising emergency repairs as required.
  • Ensure that maintenance tools and equipment are well-maintained and that sufficient supplies are available for scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess the following experience and skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with MSHA regulations.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Knowledge of the concrete, cement, or asphalt industries.
