About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ITS Department Manager to join our team at the City of St. Pete Beach, FL. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of professionals in the development, design, and engineering of ITS projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the department's operating budget in support of the organization's operating budget and forecast updates.
  • Lead and manage the growth and professional development of the ITS department, including staff development, mentoring, and training.
  • Coordinate department activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects to ensure clients are provided the best capabilities to meet their needs.
  • Support the implementation of the organization's strategic plan and contracting process through project delivery and contracting activities.
  • Assist in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
  • Maintain client contacts to ensure client satisfaction and lead sales and marketing efforts for department growth.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain department staff, including development of plans for staff reporting, performance, and compensation reviews, and succession.
  • Manage assigned project management activities, including project scope, schedule, budget, and quality management, and perform technical discipline tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10 years of practical experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to provide direction and supervision of a professional/technical group providing ITS project development, design, and engineering services.
  • Experience leading and/or supporting the pursuit of new ITS work to support and grow the department.
  • Capabilities to coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best capabilities to meet their needs.
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing, developing, and maintaining design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
  • The ability to develop and nurture relationships with key clients in the region as part of the organization's strategic plans.
  • Hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff, as well as establishing and approving budgets for the group.
  • High level of current industry knowledge, services, projects, and trends.
  • Industry recognition through prominence in regional and national professional associations.
  • Strong communications skills to deliver project findings to technical and non-technical clients and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
