Job Overview

The Financial Operations Manager is tasked with supervising the daily functions of the finance department, ensuring precision and effectiveness in all monetary transactions. This position guarantees adherence to appropriate accounting practices and financial regulations while implementing optimal strategies to assist The Sy-Klone Company, LLC in achieving its financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial processes and team responsible for reporting, invoicing, collections, payroll, and budgeting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial entries, supporting documents, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes and related ERP system activities.
  • Generate regular and special reports along with variance analyses for the management team and Board.
  • Guarantee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audit and tax documentation.
  • Lead tax planning initiatives throughout the fiscal year and oversee the filing of annual corporate tax returns.
  • Manage cash flow activities and provide financial guidance on corporate structure.
  • Establish and uphold internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure financial objectives are met and that accounting best practices are adhered to.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train team members in financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, project accounting, invoicing, fixed assets, inventory, and tax compliance.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities with a proven track record of managing and developing staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various accounting software.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines while working independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to guide a team and the organization in best practices and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA and/or MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of direct GAAP accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing context.
  • Experience in cost accounting and payroll is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data management.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally.
  • May encounter occasional exposure to industrial environments.
  • Normal auditory and visual acuity, depth perception, and manual dexterity.
