Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Microbiology

RESEARCH FOCUS: The King laboratory is seeking dedicated individuals to explore the mechanisms by which oral streptococci adhere to heart valves in the context of infective endocarditis. Understanding adhesion is crucial in pathogenesis, and the specific strategies employed by various species and strains remain inadequately characterized. The primary aim of this research will be to utilize targeted mutations and recombinant proteins to assess the function of the novel S. oralis sialic acid binding protein AsaA, along with its homologs in other species, to elucidate the role of this adhesin in the development of infective endocarditis.
