Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Chronic Brain Injury Program within the Department of Medicine | Pathology. This role focuses on investigating the intricate molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms that govern cortical regulation of pain perception in both normal and pathological conditions.
Research Focus: The primary objective of this research is to elucidate the role of cortical inhibitory circuits in pain sensation, particularly in the context of cancer and injury. Our approach integrates various methodologies, including mouse genetics, molecular biology, virology, genomics, imaging techniques, and behavioral analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute complex experiments in a research laboratory setting.
- Utilize advanced molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, viral production, and tissue analysis.
- Conduct two-photon imaging and behavioral assessments, including small animal surgeries.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data for research projects supported by relevant agencies.
- Identify research problems and develop innovative experimental techniques.
- Participate in research seminars and contribute to manuscript preparation.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications for external funding.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree in neuroscience or a related field is required. Candidates should possess a strong background in mouse genetics, behavioral analysis, and advanced imaging techniques.
