Position Overview
The role of a Postdoctoral Researcher involves engaging in advanced studies focusing on the interactions of macrophages with pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Under the mentorship of a senior scientist, the candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and assessing various research experiments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting and evaluating research experiments in the field of microbial infection and immunity.
- Implementing advanced techniques in molecular biology and immunology, including multicolor flow cytometry.
- Developing and refining laboratory methodologies to enhance research outcomes.
- Analyzing and interpreting experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Preparing research manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
- Presenting findings at scientific conferences and meetings, both locally and internationally.
- Applying for postdoctoral fellowships to secure funding for ongoing research.
- Assisting the Principal Investigator in drafting and submitting grant proposals for external funding.
- Participating in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and departmental seminars.
- Contributing to the training and development of junior lab members.
Educational Requirements
A Doctorate degree (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD) is mandatory for this position.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary research environment. Experience with molecular biology and immunology techniques is preferred, along with familiarity in animal handling and husbandry. A successful background check is required, and candidates may be asked to undergo a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening.
Additional Information
This position is classified as a fixed-term role, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. Candidates will be subject to a background check, and a drug screen or physical may be part of the post-offer process.
