Range A - $7, $9,065.42 /month
Range B - $9,994.56/month

This role involves performing essential law enforcement functions aimed at safeguarding individuals and property while ensuring the maintenance of public order. The position operates under supervision and is classified as a temporary/intermittent role within the Deputy Sheriff series. Responsibilities encompass a wide array of duties, including but not limited to patrolling, community engagement, crime prevention, investigative work, inmate supervision, court services, and specialized tasks such as training and community outreach, depending on the assignment.

Employment Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduation or equivalent (GED);
AND
One of the following:
1. Possession of a State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Certificate.
Or:
2. Completion of a POST Basic Academy.
Or:
3. Current enrollment in a POST Basic Academy.

Note: Candidates must provide relevant documentation as specified.


General Qualifications:

Compliance with Government Code: Candidates must meet the minimum standards outlined in California Government Code, Section 1031. POST Requirement: Continuous Professional Training (CPT) is mandatory. Criminal History and Background Check: The County will conduct background checks consistent with applicable laws.

Physical and Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to:

  • Meet medical standards as prescribed by POST.
  • Perform the full range of duties as a Peace Officer.
  • Work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Operate in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Handle potentially hazardous situations.

Note: This position is temporary and does not include a probationary period.
