About the Position

The City of West Sacramento is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Officer Trainees. As a Police Officer Trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow with our department, working alongside experienced law enforcement professionals to serve and protect our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in basic law enforcement training and gain an understanding of police procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid, and physical and emotional skills needed to successfully complete the police academy.
  • Perform non-sworn, non-hazardous duties in support of a variety of police operations.
  • Attend a designated California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) approved Police Academy to receive basic training in law enforcement, police procedures, first aid, and physical fitness.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid California driver license at the time of appointment.
  • Age: at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
  • Pass a physical agility test and background investigation, including a polygraph, fingerprinting, and drug usage history.
  • Agree to not resign and accept employment with another law enforcement agency for a period of 24 months starting from the date of appointment.
