Overview:
The Sequencing Workflows and Applications team at Tailored Management is on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior Scientist to enhance our research and early development initiatives in the realm of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The successful candidate will possess a robust background in optimizing NGS workflows and will have hands-on experience with nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing, and data analysis. This pivotal role will contribute significantly to the advancement of new reagents, workflows, and assay solutions in the dynamic field of NGS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, refine, and validate NGS-based workflows, contributing to groundbreaking research in molecular biology and human health.
- Meticulously document experimental procedures, materials, and outcomes in electronic laboratory notebooks. Analyze data, assess results, and determine subsequent experimental steps.
- Leverage extensive molecular biology expertise to troubleshoot assays, resolve technical challenges, and interpret data effectively.
- Deliver scientific background information and project updates during internal and cross-functional team meetings. Build and maintain productive relationships with Development personnel, and provide training to new R&D staff as necessary.
- Draft and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and precision in experimental methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong foundation in molecular biology, particularly in NGS methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in assay design, optimization, validation, experimental design, data analysis, and presentation.
- Practical experience with NGS techniques, including exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Illumina instruments (e.g., NovaSeq, HiSeq, NextSeq, MiSeq).
- Prior experience in the analysis and interpretation of NGS data.
- Familiarity with various genomics analysis technologies such as microarrays, real-time PCR, and quality control validation tools.
- Understanding of oncology biology is advantageous.
