Senior Mechanical Engineer for Innovative Sequencing Solutions

SequLITE Genomics, a subsidiary of Fapon Biotech, is a pioneering life sciences firm dedicated to democratizing sequencing technology. We are currently seeking a dedicated and innovative engineer to join our Next Generation Sequencer Development team as a Senior or Staff Mechanical Engineer. This role is ideal for a proactive and collaborative engineer with extensive experience in mechanical design and platform development for sequencing instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mechanical and fluidic research to validate technical performance.
- Design, prototype, and fabricate essential consumable components and instrument interfaces.
- Develop thermal cycling modules and mechanical clamping systems for effective part integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish critical design parameters for system-level development.
- Engage in technical advancements of various system modules and their integration.
- Coordinate with manufacturing partners to streamline the development process.
- Contribute to strategic planning and implementation of nanopore sequencing technologies, including research and design.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines with over 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, thermal, and fluidic aspects within R&D teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills in both experimental and analytical contexts.
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD design and Finite Element Analysis.
- Familiarity with LabView and/or Python programming.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing and micromachining.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth understanding of next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Knowledge of core Product Development methodologies, including critical parameter management and FMEA.
- Experience in constructing testbeds and mechanical/fluidic prototypes.
- Familiarity with force/torque measurement techniques.
- Experience in film seal and puncture testing in cartridges.
- Proficient in data analysis software such as JMP.
- Strong relationships with key development and manufacturing partners.
