Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Diabetes Educator - Nutrition Therapy Specialist to join our interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct diabetes medical nutrition therapy education, assessment, and follow-up to patients. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of nutrition principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans for patients with diabetes
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine patients' nutritional needs
  • Provide education and training on healthy eating habits, meal planning, and carbohydrate counting
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on patient progress

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field
  • Completion of an American Dietetic Association-approved dietetic internship or a program in hospital dietetics approved by the ADA
  • Registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Three years of experience in a diabetes management program, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) are highly desirable
  • Certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) is required within six months of employment

Estimated Salary

$73,500 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience
