The OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center stands as Oklahoma's sole National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center, recognized among only 72 such centers across the United States. We are currently seeking a Staff Scientist to oversee a research laboratory, spearhead scientific inquiries, support diverse research initiatives, and mentor laboratory personnel. This position entails ensuring adherence to laboratory safety standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute operational guidelines and protocols for the laboratory.
  • Establish strategic objectives for the lab, propose innovative projects, and identify potential funding avenues.
  • Conduct independent research initiatives and collaborate with fellow researchers.
  • Gather and analyze data, prepare research manuscripts for publication, and remain updated on ongoing studies in your area of expertise.
  • Oversee laboratory staff, including recruitment, training, and performance assessments.
  • Engage in teaching, grant applications, and presenting research outcomes at scientific conferences.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to fulfill the role's responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.D. is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 36 months of Postdoctoral Research Fellow experience is required.

  • Proficient in data analysis, relationship building, and effective communication.
  • Skilled in writing technical documents, grant proposals, and presenting research findings.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of managing stress, and meeting deadlines.
