Position:

The Research Products Coordinator will be primarily responsible for
coordinating the procurement of research products produced at OBI and
distributing those products to scientists, laboratories, and biotech
companies upon request. Coordinator will work with donor services,
component manufacturing, and blood products services personnel to
receive the blood products requested by clients and correspond with the
clients for pick-up, delivery, or shipping of the products. Within this
role, the Coordinator will also be responsible for creating client
accounts, gathering and sending test results and requested donor data,
monitoring product and supply inventories, and creating invoices for
billing clients. These responsibilities do not include fulfilling orders
for apheresis or clinical products. When needed, the Coordinator will
assist with research data collection, entry, and analysis, and will
perform other activities to support the Research and Development
Laboratory at OBI or outside research clients. The work schedule is
generally M-F 9:00-5:30, with some flexibility. The Research Products
Coordinator will report to the Scientific Director of Research and
Development and work in coordination with the R&D Laboratory Assistant
and staff from other departments at OBI to accomplish job duties.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, works well with others
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience in managing large supply or product inventories
  • Strong knowledge of computers and use of windows programs
  • Strong knowledge of SafeTrace software system
  • Able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Willingness to travel to client locations or other OBI facilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of any data or test results
  • Laboratory experience a plus
  • Phlebotomy experience a plus

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process orders for research products from scientists,
    laboratories, and biotech companies
  • Coordinate with staff in BioDevelopment, donor services, component
    manufacturing, BPS, and other departments to secure the products
    needed to fill client orders
  • Store, ship, and track products to fill client orders
  • When preparing and shipping products, strike and tag or label
    products to be shipped for research purposes and follow Infectious
    Substances Regulations
  • Keep the client orders organized, create new accounts, and create
    intermediate invoices to assist with client billing
  • Perform needed and required documentation for research studies in
    the R&D lab and for outside clients
  • Confidently access SafeTrace and other databases to enter data,
    obtain test results, gather requested donor data, or help choose the
    products that best fit the client order
  • Correspond directly with clients to answer questions about orders,
    clarify product requests, and send test results or donor data
  • Provide reports to supervisor to help maintain the departmental
    budget, including tracking supply orders made and research product
    orders filled
  • Perform monthly inventory of products and critical supplies
  • Perform online searches to locat critical supplies and information
    to help with BioDevelopment, R&D Lab, and client projects
  • Perform other duties as requested
